So I’ve recently begun a new chapter of my life, into the field of social work. I’m earning my MSW from Florida State University, all through online programs as FSU is in Tallahassee, and I’m firmly rooted in Brevard County, Florida. But this journey has made me aware of social work as a profession, and social workers in the news.
Social workers are amazing – they help people by seeing the interconnected web of each person’s life – the family, the close support networks, the community, and the society overall – and understanding where strengths lie, and where people need help moving to a better place. I’m so excited to join this field in about 2 years.
But for now, I’d like to honor this social worker, Phoenix Roebles, who stood up for a fellow human in need.
